A Year in Review!
As we edge ever closer to Christmas it seems the perfect time to look back over the year at the exciting projects we have worked on. It’s certainly not been a dull 2014 here at Selby Carpets.
We helped refurbish the National Theatre where it was exciting to watch the changes taking place as they wanted to replicate the original carpet tile design from the 1950s. And it wasn’t the only art installation we carried out this year: we fitted a specialist temporary carpet at the White Cube Gallery in Bermondsey which would not damage their existing flooring when removed and we replaced the black platform flooring at the Electric Theatre in Guildford.
We also ventured onto the water, refitting the River Thames’ M V London Belle party boat with Forbo Flotex, a mix of vinyl and carpet so effectively a waterproof carpet. To prevent slips and spills on the dance floor we installed vinyl tiles and an anti-slip product to the surface.
We have refitted dozens of schools and are always keen to help solve flooring problems. In one Enfield school we laid carpet tiles in a concrete corridor with curved walls to help reduce the noise of hundreds of pupils, cutting the tiles to shape and installing impact tiles in every doorway with black diminishing strips to prevent trips.
We’ve been down into silver vaults at William Walter Antiques, up the Shard, we fitted a heavy domestic wool twist pile carpet in the Argentine Embassy and worked at the world-famous Air Studios, in Hampstead. We have refitted floors in doctors clinics, nurseries, offices, private houses and museums. And of course we have recycled over 10,000 metres square of carpet – that’s the equivalent of 11 football pitches.
It’s been a busy year at Selby Carpets and we are excited about what next year holds. So Happy Christmas to you all and come back and visit us in 2015.
